About ERGO Network 

The European Roma Grassroots Organisations Network (ERGO Network) is a Brussels-based Roma-led civil society network working across Europe to promote equality, human rights, and social justice for Roma communities. ERGO Network connects grassroots Roma civil society with European policy processes and supports Roma participation, leadership, and advocacy at local, national, and EU levels. 

As part of its financial sustainability strategy, ERGO Network is seeking an experienced fundraising consultant to support the implementation of its fundraising strategy, with a strong focus on trusts, foundations, and corporate donors. 

Objective of the assignment 

The objective of this consultancy is to secure new unrestricted or flexible funding for ERGO Network by actively identifying, approaching, and following up with potential donors, and by submitting high-quality funding proposals. 

This assignment is hands-on and delivery oriented. We are looking for a consultant who not only advises, but actively engages with donors, submits proposals, and follows up through written and verbal communication. 

Scope of work (Summary) 

The consultant will: 

  • Provide feedback and recommendations to ERGO Network’s fundraising strategy 
  • Identify and prioritise relevant trusts, foundations, and companies aligned with ERGO Network’s mission
  • Prepare tailored concept notes and proposals
  • Actively contact donors (email and, where appropriate, phone)
  • Manage follow-ups and donor communication
  • Support ERGO Network in integrating AI-supported tools to streamline and automate parts of the fundraising process 

A detailed scope is provided in the Terms of Reference below. 

Duration and budget 

  • Maximum budget: €10,000 
  • Estimated input: Min. 20 working days 
  • Timeline: To be agreed, ideally within a 3–4-month period 

 Required profile 

The consultant should demonstrate: 

  • Proven experience in fundraising from trusts, foundations, and/or corporate donors, preferably at European or international level 
  • A track record of successful donor outreach and proposal submission 
  • Ability and willingness to directly contact donors and manage follow-ups
  • Sensitivity to Roma rights, anti-discrimination work, or broader social justice and human rights fields 
  • Practical experience with AI-supported fundraising tools (e.g. donor research, drafting, CRM, automation, tracking), or a strong interest and capability to apply them 
  • Excellent written English and strong communication skills 

Deliverables (Indicative) 

  • Feedback to ERGO Network fundraising strategy 
  • A prioritised donor prospect list with outreach strategy 
  • Records of donor contacts and follow-ups
  • Recommendations and/or set-up for AI-supported fundraising processes
  • Progress updates + final summary with recommendations
