The ERGO Network Secretariat team is growing! This month, a new European Solidarity Corps volunteer, Donald Myrteli, from Albania, joined us in Brussels.
He will stay with us until the end of June 2027 to learn more about how we work and support all our work areas.
Here is more about Donald in his own words:
My name is Donald Myrteli, I am from Albania, and I have a background in International Relations. My studies have taken me from Tirana to Budapest and Vienna, with a semester in New York along the way, and now to Brussels.
During this time, I became particularly interested in migration and securitisation, especially in how migration is shaped by political and security narratives. Alongside my studies, I have spent several years involved in youth work, advocacy and international projects, including working as a facilitator and trainer in non-formal education and youth activities. Much of this experience has also been connected to Roma youth and human rights.
I joined ERGO Network as a European Solidarity Corps Volunteer because I wanted to experience European policy and civil society work from the inside and build on my previous experience. At ERGO, my work is quite varied, from administration, logistics and organising events to supporting youth activities and getting more involved in policy and advocacy.
Outside work, I am learning French, getting more into photography and watching probably too much football. I am a very committed Barcelona supporter, and while I am usually flexible with my plans, missing a Barcelona match is where things get complicated.
