Call for Solidarity Corps volunteer 2026

Call for Solidarity Corps volunteer in ERGO Network

ERGO Network is looking for one enthusiastic and active young Roma, who would like to join our office team in Brussels for 11 months in the framework of the European Solidarity Corps.

Who: Because our organisation aims to nurture a new generation of Roma activists, we are looking for a young Roma person (aged between 18 and 30) for this position.

When: From September 2026 to July 2027 (11 months)

Where: ERGO Network’s office in Brussels, Belgium

With whom: With the diverse, international ERGO Network staff team

How much: Monthly allowance of 1,200 Euro

Deadline for applications: 14th June 2026

During your time with the ERGO Network, you will learn about international advocacy, help us organise international meetings and events, and get actively involved in Roma activism and international Roma networks in Brussels. It is a great opportunity to learn and develop your practical skills. Last but not least, volunteering is an excellent opportunity for discovering your strengths and career preferences.

Your tasks will be defined together with you, depending on your interests and skills, but may include:

  • Advocacy and policy: Supporting ERGO staff in EU advocacy work on social and anti-discrimination policies; attending debates, hearings, and meetings with other stakeholders to challenge stereotypes and racism; and building partnerships with Roma and non-Roma organisations from Belgium and other European countries.
  • Meetings and events: Assisting in the organisation of International Roma Day 2027 in Brussels and EU Roma Week 2027; contributing to the organisation of ERGO Network’s meetings, conferences, events, and international seminars, as well as those of its partners.
  • Youth participation and non-formal education: Representing the ERGO Network at Roma youth events and facilitating workshops and seminars.

You will work 30 hours per week (including an online language course if desired). Working hours will generally be from Monday to Friday, between 9:00 and 15:00. However, these hours can be adapted to your needs and the specific activities you will be involved in.

Your Profile:

  • Young Roma aged 18 to 30 from a European Country (doesn’t have to be EU Member State).
  • Good command of English, both spoken and written (at least B1 level).
  • Computer literacy (proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media platforms).
  • High motivation to learn about Roma activism and advocacy, and to contribute to a small but dynamic European NGO.
  • Previous involvement in Roma or pro-Roma NGOs is considered an advantage.
  • Reliable, eager to learn, and ready to grow both personally and professionally.

We aim to empower young people who are enthusiastic about our cause and wish to gain experience that can later be applied to national or local NGOs. We particularly welcome applications from individuals motivated to challenge stereotypes, antigypsyism, and racism, and who demonstrate an open-minded approach to a unique life and learning experience, alongside a spirit of creativity, initiative, responsibility, and independence.

We offer:

  • A monthly allowance of €1,200 (covering accommodation, meals, local transport, language courses, and pocket money).
  • Travel costs to Brussels.
  • Comprehensive health insurance for the entire duration (provided through the ESC scheme, in addition to your national EHIC card).
  • On-arrival and mid-term training with other Solidarity Corps volunteers, along with extensive learning and development opportunities within the ERGO Network and our partners.
  • Access to an online French course available to European Solidarity Corps volunteers.
  • An exciting and unforgettable experience working for a multicultural, international organisation in the capital of Europe!

How to apply:

Please send your motivation letter (max. 1 page) and CV (max. 2 pages) by 14th June 2026 via email to Martina Horváthová at m.horvathova@ergonetwork.org. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed during the last week of June. Final decision: By 1st July 2026.

Before you arrive in Brussels, we will help you find accommodation and prepare for your time with us.

Do not hesitate to contact us at m.horvathova@ergonetwork.org for more information.

You are also welcome to reach out to our current volunteer, Cheyenne Wijts (ch.wijts@ergonetwork.org), for a firsthand perspective and any peer-to-peer questions you might have!
