Local development

ERGO Network members are active on the grassroots level, enabling local Roma communities to become change agents through meaningful participation in local decision-making processes that can bring immediate changes to their living situation.

ERGO Network supports this work through training and sharing of experiences with community organising, participatory budgeting and other local development methods. We focus particularly on Community-Led Local Development (CLLD), an approach that turns traditional ’top down’ development policy on its head: local people take the reins and form a local partnership that designs and implements an integrated development strategy. It aims to increase employment and skills and social enterprise and ensures that local people are involved in developing projects, using resources in the area to address local challenges. Together with our members we make sure that Roma are actively taking part in and benefitting from this process.
